Trumpeter
Kevin Yue (he/him) is an in-demand freelance musician based in Edmonton, Alberta. With a rich background in orchestral music, Kevin can regularly be seen in the trumpet section of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. He is also active as a guest musician with other ensembles in Edmonton such as GFN Production’s FILMharmonique Orchestra, Edmonton Opera, Alberta Ballet, and the Royal Canadian Artillery Band. Kevin is also an active member of the Coyote Brass Quintet.
Kevin’s studies in performance include an Advanced Certificate in Performance from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Alberta. Kevin is grateful to have had Robin Doyon and Anita McAlister as his mentors during these studies.
Educator
A sought-after educator in his own right, Kevin currently serves as a Conservatory Instructor at the Winspear Centre and a Teaching Artist with the ESO’s YONA program. In addition to her private studio, he has also served as trumpet faculty of MusiCamp Alberta and the ESO’s Rusty' Musicians summer camp. Kevin is a fierce advocate for accessible music education and focuses his practice on presenting music in a fun and approachable way. As a children’s educator and entertainer, Kevin has appeared as “JC433” in the ESO’s education concert “A Robot’s Guide to the Orchestra”, the Winspear Centre’s Musical Mornings and co-created the Music of the Spheres, an educational musical experience at Edmonton’s KidsFringe.
